Plans for Odyssey de Culinaire, fine dining experiences to raise awareness and funds for the Oklahoma ProStart Program, have been set for July in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.

Presented by the Oklahoma Restaurant Association, Oklahoma Hospitality Foundation and Oklahoma ProStart, the popular evenings will be back for their 19th year. According to a release, guests in Oklahoma City will enjoy dinner and other festivities at the Skirvin Hilton Hotel on July 7. Chefs Gaetan Croisier of the Skirvin, Kevin Lee of Birdies, Jeff Chanchaleune of Ma Der Lao Kitchen, Jonathan Krell of Patrono, and Zach Hutton of Scratch Kitchen and Cocktails – Paseo have been recruited to create favorite dishes.

The celebration will then continue July 19 at the River Spirit Casino Resort in Tulsa with chefs Audrey Long of McNellie’s Group, Devin Levine of the BOK Center, Ben Alexander of McNellie’s Group, Jonathan Moosmiller of Shangri La Resort, and Joel Bein of The Meat & Cheese Show.

According to the release, students representing seven ProStart programs in Oklahoma will collaborate with mentor chefs to create great menus and meals. The Oklahoma ProStart Program is a school-to-career program developed by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation. In Oklahoma it includes more than 900 students across 20 schools and career technology centers.

“Odyssey de Culinaire is my favorite event to be a part of each year,” said Chef Ben Alexander, vice president of culinary operations with the McNellie’s Group. “It’s fun watching young chefs interact with us ‘seasoned’ chefs. Our knowledge is useless unless we teach someone else what we have gained through our successes and our failures.”

The theme for Odyssey de Culinaire 2022 will be “Chef’s Playlist” with five-course culinary experiences inspired by songs of choice of participating chefs, accompanied by wine selections provided by Republic National Distributing Co.

“Odyssey de Culinaire is an experience like none other,” ORA Manager of Education and ProStart Coordinator Roberta Helsley said. “Our guests not only receive a one-of-a-kind culinary experience prepared by Oklahoma ProStart students, but they are supporting the future of the Oklahoma Hospitality industry.”

A champagne reception will begin both evenings at 6 p.m. Dinner will follow at 7 p.m.

Both events are open to the public and seats are $145 per event. There will be a full table discount for those who purchase seven seats.

Those wishing to attend may register online at okrestaurants.com or by calling 405-942-8181.
