Planned Match For AEW Revolution May End Up Not Taking Place

As previously reported, the main event of the TBS premiere episode of AEW Dynamite saw Lucha Brothers (Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix) put the AEW World Tag Team Titles on the line against Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy of Jurassic Express, with Jurassic Express beating Lucha Brothers to become the brand-new AEW World Tag Team Champions.

There was a spot in the match where Fenix was put through a table on the outside by Luchasaurus, with Fenix landing really bad and it even seemed like Fenix twisted his arm and it came out of it’s socket upon impact. Rey Fenix then grabbed his left arm and it looked like he was calling for assistance. An update would then be provided by one-half of the Lucha Brothers, revealing that he did not suffer any broken bones and that he was even expected to make his in-ring return in mid-February.

Another update was provided, this time by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, and it was revealed that Fenix’s condition has improved and his arm is out of the sling, but he is still expected to be out of in-ring action for one more month, which means that he will only be making his highly-anticipated in-ring return sometime by mid-March.

AEW’s next major PPV Event known as Revolution is set to take place in less than two weeks on March 6 and the card is already taking shape, with a number of top calibre matches already made official like AEW World Champion “Hangman” Adam Page defending his title against Adam Cole and CM Punk vs. MJF in a Dog Collar Match, but a huge Trios Match that the promotion may have planned for the event may end up not taking place.

Dave Meltzer said on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that the Death Triangle vs. House Of Black Trios Match that AEW has planned for their upcoming Revolution PPV Event might end up not pushing through due to Fenix not being cleared in time as there is still about three weeks for Fenix before he is cleared, so he won’t make Revolution, but knowing Fenix, he might just show up and the match might just end up happening.

This is what Dave Meltzer said:

“Also, if he’s ready, I think they might end up doing Pentagon, Fenix, and PAC against Black, Brody King, and Buddy Matthews. I don’t know..that may be a little bit later because I was told that Fenix still has three weeks, and three weeks is kinda missing March 6. But who knows? It’s wrestlers, it’s Rey Fenix and he’s crazy. Maybe he’ll make it and maybe that match will be on there as well.”
