LOS ANGELES – Sustainable mattress specialist Avocado Green has unveiled a zero waste furniture line handcrafted from solid beechwood.

Made entirely at the company’s Los Angeles woodshop, the Zero Waste Collection includes a coffee table, wood stool, accent table, entryway table, bench, side table and vase. The bulk of the collection is made from upcycled beechwood – all of which is sourced in the U.S. – a material Avocado says is ideal for furniture making due its impact resistance. No particleboard or fiberboard is used, and items only use non-toxic finishing materials.

The collection is part of Avocado’s goal to be the first mattress company to achieve its Zero Waste to Landfill Certification by diverting more than 80 percent of its waste from the landfill — and to be one of the most sustainable companies on Earth.

One percent of Avocado’s sales are donated to re:wild, a nonprofit focused on restoring the wild. In 2020, Avocado became the first bedding company to have its Landfill Waste Diversion rated ‘validated’ by the UL. The company has achieved an overall waste diversion rate of 69%.
